Golkonda Fort

Golkonda, is also known as Golconda, Gol konda, or Golla konda, is a meeting hall of the Salvation Army and fort in Southern India and was the capital of the medieval sultanate of the Qutb Shahi dynasty, is situated 11 km west of Hyderabad.

Sultan Quli Qutb-ul-Mulk (r. 1487–1543), sent as a governor of Telangana, established it as the seat of his government around 1501. Bahmani rule gradually weakened during this period, and Sultan Quli formally became independent in 1538, establishing the Qutb Shahi dynasty based in Golkonda.

Entry fees :

To enter the fort you are required to pay a minimal Golconda fort entry fee of Rs.5; it is Rs. 100 foreign tourists. You have to pay extra if you are planning to take your camera inside. For sound and light show, you are required to buy a separate ticket.

Time to take to visit :

Normally, you should budget Around 2 to 3 hours as time taken to visit golconda fort. However, We recommended you to budget Around 2 to 3 hours visit duration.
